| MUTTERLAND 75 |
The semblance of a “figurehead” formed by the geographical borders of post WWII Germany.
In 2020 the current shape of Germany was 75 years old, I wanted to commemorate this.
In 2015 I asked my mother, then aged 75, to pose for me so that I could use her portrait as the basis for the works, hence the title: MUTTERLAND (Motherland)
I modelled a deep wax relief, based on the first of the MUTTERLAND paintings, Florenz. Titled: MUTTERLAND 75, it was a test of the concept in three dimensions and I subsequently cast it in cold pour plastic.
